Blood Orange Creamsicle Smoothie (Paleo)

Blood Orange Creamsicle smoothies with a boost of collagen—a dairy free, collagen packed way to enjoy all the flavors of creamsicles.

So I do this thing where I get super hooked on one ingredient and I use it in everything. Pears, for example. And now blood orange…again. My first blood orange recipe streak was last summer, and here we are again. I feel like everyone starts cooking a bunch of citrus stuff after the holidays end, and I seem to have hopped right on the bandwagon with the rest of the them.

Remember getting creamsicle pops as a kid? Omg… those were my fav. Creamsicle ice cream, too. It’s been a looong tome since I’ve had those in my life. I’m finding that smoothies are a great way to make healthy Paleo versions of foods that would primarily be a little more decadent.

I have a feeling I’m going to get on a fig kick next—I used them in a Dutch Baby recipe before I left for CT and they were just so pretty! And carrots—I’ve been dreaming up a ton of carrot recipes lately.

But back to the smoothies. I love using either Great Lakes or Vital Proteins in the smoothies. Great Lakes has less of an odd taste to it, but I don’t find that you notice either way if you’re putting it in a flavorful smoothie.

Tips for making these Blood Orange Creamsicle Smoothies:

  • Use lots of fresh blood orange juice! Yes, the recipe calls for 4–that’s not a fluke
