Color has, historically, made me rather uncomfortable (I live for a black wardrobe and an all-white home) but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a bit of fun working on such a bold, bright shot 🙃

It’s cold and grey out on the Manhattan streets and the weather app is showing me snowflakes, but I’m shooting summer-ish lemonade vibes and hoping for the best 🤞

Practicing photography has made me a better photographer.

But time spent observing art, reading good books, going on walks, noticing details in architecture, and simply living life has made me a better artist.

And both are key.

I love photographing galettes and I love eating them just as much. I’d been dying to work on a savory galette for a while so when I had the chance to work with @bubbiespickles again I knew this was my time!

Made on a grain-free crust with a bounty of different mushrooms these galettes are a fun savory treat that are surprisingly easy to make. Link in my bio!

I was in a creative funk the other day and ended up writing down pages about why I was feeling stuck and what I thought the solution might be.

And in all of that writing I found myself acknowledging the fact that I really do love the texture and cadence of what it is to do creative work. That there is no amount of finished photos hung on a wall or delivered client galleries that will ever amount to the joy of actually going through the waves of the creative process.

And I think that was the breakthrough that I was looking to have. Not for all of the answers, but to remember that I choose to get up and do this crazy entrepreneurial thing every day because there really is nothing quite like it, and that is everything.

(Also. Apparently I’m now doing a full citrus series and I’m not mad about it.)

One thing I’ve loved about this series on minima

One thing I’ve loved about this series on minimalism is the feeling of contentment with the everyday. The images are all so simple and ordinary without being lifeless or uninteresting.

Maybe it’s just my desire for a moment of peace after so many years of feeling unsettled (and then the horror show of 2020) but there’s been such a restful feeling in this series of work that I didn’t know I needed.

It’s also a reflection of where I am currently now that I finally feel home: content to stay and marvel at all of the wonderful moments hidden in the every day.
